What will my address with buyUSA look like?

You will have a Compton , California address of the following form:
Your id or Company
Your Box Number

Note that this is NOT just a PO Box. We are fully authorized to receive shipments from couriers such as FedEx, UPS, and DHL, and you will not face the problems of companies that refuse to ship to this type of address.

How does BuyUSA work?

We offer our members a real US street address that is unique to them. We operate from a facility in Compton (Los Angeles), California. When members have their items directed to their personal BuyUSA address in Compton, we receipt the goods on arrival, tell our members via e-mail that the item has arrived. The member can then log into their mailbox to view details about the items that have arrived for them, and supply us with the required information about the shipment. The user can then schedule the items in their mail box for shipment to their New Zealand address. BuyUSA will then follow the instructions we are given to on-ship to the member's New Zealand address. It's really easy!

Can I view my mail before it is forwarded?

You can. With our Service, you can log into your account 24 hours a day and view the contents of your mailbox. Each item includes details on sender, item type, description, and weight. Due to the possibilty of receiving junk mail you have the opportunity to discard items you do not want, from your mailbox.

How will you send my Shipments and how long does it take?

We ship your goods using a custom air cargo solution that we have developed exclusively for BuyUSA New Zealand customers. On arrival in New Zealand your shipment will be delivered by our chosen courier contractor. You will be supplied with the courier tracking number.

What if I send more than one shipment on the consolidation ?

You can do this if you wish. But if the combined value of the freight and goods exceeds the GST and Duty limits then customs entry charges will apply as per previous answers.

Can I combine items together to save on shipping costs?

The key feature of our service is allowing you to combine orders/shipments from multiple suppliers/retailers in the USA into one single shipment to New Zealand. Therefore you are able to spread the shipping cost over multiple items. Our Service gives you control; Just log into your account and decide when your packages are sent and what items/orders are shipped together.

What if I don't want some of the mail that arrives in my box? Do I have to pay to have it sent to me?

With our junk mail throwaway option, we will dicard any items that you instruct us to.You dont have to pay to ship unwanted items.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept Visa and Mastercard via the Paymate payment gateway

Do quoted rates include tariffs, customs, or other duties?

While our rates include all shipping costs, depending on the value and the types of items in your shipment you may still be responsible for a customs clearance fee as well as duty and GST. BuyUSA will manage the import and customs clearance process for your shipments. Any customs fees, GST or duty that we pay on your behalf to New Zealand customs will be collected from you prior to delivery. Our "what will it cost page" will help you to estimate these charges. What items am I prohibited from shipping?

Please view our What Can't I Ship Page. BuysUSA must comply with Airline regulations as well as with New Zealand Customs and other border control agency rules.

If you are unsure whether an item will be allowed then please contact us. We are only too happy to give advice.

How do I buy from U.S. websites ?

With your own U.S. address with BuyUSA, you will be able to access most of the deals on U.S. website. BuysUSA makes it not only possible but affordable to shop with these sites.

Is there a value limit on what I can send ?

Yes. Due to U.S. export regulations we currently limit the value of any single shipment to US$2500 inclusive on domestic shipping and sales tax.

How do I cancel my account?

You may cancel this agreement at any time. You must cancel by sending an email to support@buyusa.co.nz After cancellation, BuyUSAl reserves the right to charge you standard rates for mail or packages that still arrive under your id.

What about duty and GST?

 

 

Duty may be applied in line with the New Zealand Customs and Excise Act. Duty only applies on goods that qualify for protection due to local manufacture. See our What will it cost page for details. GST applies at the rate of 15% of the value of the goods and the cost of freight on all shipments . However if the combined duty and GST is below NZ$60 then no formal customs entry is required and no GST or Duty is payable. Contact us for specific information on whether your intended purchase will be dutiable. If GST alone or Duty or GST combined exceed $60 then a customs entry is required. BuyUSA will clear the shipment for you but a New Zealand customs service charge of $60 will apply in addition to the duty and GST amounts. We will pay any duty or GST to customs on your behalf and then bill you. All of these charges must be paid prior to goods being delivered to you.

Multiple shipments arriving on the same consolidation/flight for the same person or delivery address must be treated as a single shipment for customs value purposes.

If the value of what you are importing exceeds NZ$1000 you will also need a customs importer code. Contact us for advise on how to obtain one of these.

 

 

Is this service legal?

Yes it is. However, you should not purport that you are a U.S. resident.

Some US websites will not process my New Zealand credit card. What can I do?

To protect themselves from online fraud there are some websites that verify billing addresses against delivery addresses for credit card transactions. They don't allow non-US credit cards for that purpose. That does not strictly comply with the credit card merchant rules. You can usually contact the store by telephone or email to verify your identity. They may request a fax/scan copy of the front and back of your credit card or other identification. With most sites once you are loaded as a customer and have successfully processed a payment your details will remain on file and future transactions will be trouble free. This might seem annoying. But the deals available will make it worth your while. You may also try alternative payment methods available on some sites such as Paypal and Google Checkout as these services pay the retailer so address matching is not usually an issue.

What is dimensional weight?

BuyUSA will price your shipments at the greater of the actual weight or the dimensional weight.

Dimensional weight is calculated as Length (metres) x Width (metres) x Height (meters) x 167kg

We will  weigh and measure each incoming package and display the  information to you in your online mailbox.

You will be charged on the dimensional or actual weight. Whichever is greater.

US online retailers usually display the shipping weight of products on their websites. These weights will be in pounds and can be converted to kilograms by dividing by 2.2. If the dimensional weight is greater than the actual weight then the sites usually display the dimensional weight as the shipping weight. To be absolutely sure you may wish to contact the website concerned to confirm the package weight and dimensions. You can then use our "what will it cost" page to calculate the shipping and likely customs charges before proceeding with your order.

The U.S. retailer wants a phone number for my order. What do I do?

Is there a maximum size or weight for BuyUSA shipments?

Any single package must not exceed: 200cm in Length, 200cm in Width and 150cm in Height. The maximum dimensional or actual weight for any BuyUSA shipment is 200kg.

I have used US Postal service before. It was cheaper. Why is that ?

For their non priority (slower) international service. US Post only charges for actual weight of packages. There is no surcharge for dimensional weight. See the question on dimensional weight to explain this. If you have bulky items and your shipper can offer international US Post then by all means do a comparison. US Post may be cheaper for you.

Do you charge a Registration Fee ?

 

Yes. There is a $10.00  annual fee for your virtual address. A small price to pay for the ability to shop from all your favourite web sites.
